It was a short Big Lake Township meeting Wednesday following the annual meeting held the evening before. Business from the clerk included a request from Derek and Amy Wellberg for a 30 foot variance to put in a swimming pool. After review, Supervisor Steve Pfleghaar made a motion for approval and Supervisor Bruce Aubol seconded.The board of canvas went as followed; a total of 16 ballots were cast at Tuesday election. Pfleghaar was re-elected with a total of 16 votes and Supervisor Larry Alfords was also re-elected with a total of 16 vote. The township has a total of 5, 021 registered voters.
Engineer Ross Able, stated that there are nine proposed projects for patch and overlay with a total cost approximately $458,000.
A motion was made by Aubol to open the projects for bids and Pfleghaar seconded. Treasurer Ken Warneke went over the township financial statements followed by a few announcements. The Sherburne History Center is holding their fundraiser called Rhythm and Blues at Carousel Works, March 24. Small farms night, sponsored by the SWCD, will be held at Lions Park, April 3 from 5:30 - 8:30. Firefighter Shawn Redepenning’s retirement party will be April 7, 6 p.m. at the Friendly Buffalo.
